Decorating with stripes isn’t as difficult as you may think and you don’t have to make a big commitment to stripes to still have an impact on a room. Here are some of our favorite ways to take the latest off-the-runway stripes and incorporate them to your contemporary decor.

TRATIDIONAL VICTORIAN TERRACE APARTMENT 

The apartment occupies the upper stories in the building and faces a public road on one side and a beautiful private communal garden on the other. Inspired by this duality, the designer envisioned an open layout that gradually opens from the entrance level towards the mezzanine and second levels.

When it comes to adding color to a vanity, you have two options: add color to the top or the base. Consider picking one and keeping the other surface neutral for balance. Colorful bases can often be a DIY project and work best on large vanities with cabinet space or shelving. For the counter tops, your best bet is to select a colored marble or granite.

NATURE MEETS TRADITION IN SEASIDE

The essence of the design is in the use of local traditional architectural techniques — the practice of incorporating rocks from the excavation site to create multiple levels and layering walls, similar to rice patty terraces.


COTTAGE

Purity and smiplicity are at the basis of the design. The exterior displays a well chosen array of textures such as wood, concrete, and black metal cladding. A powerful contrast between the black steel finishes and the natural grain of the Eastern white cedar makes the residence stand out.
